First and foremost my kidney failure has taught me that life can drastically change in an instant! It has also taught me to not take anything in life for granted, especially your health. I am more than grateful for being alive even with all the hurdles that kidney disease has brought with it but getting a kidney transplant is my only chance at having a freer and fulfilling life. A successful kidney transplant may help me live a longer life than just being on dialysis. In short term, a kidney transplant would allow me to have higher energy levels, to work and travel easier, to enjoy activities with my family, and to have a better survival rate. In long term, a kidney transplant would possibly help me live a much longer life, walk my daughter down the aisle when she gets married, give me the chance to raise my son to be a gentleman, get to know my grandchildren. It would give me a chance to be a present husband and a present father. I lost my father at a young age and for so many life events I have wished he was still alive to help me cope. I can not bear to imagine my children enduring the pain of losing their father at such young ages. My biggest dream in life is to see my children grow and be with them through their failures and successes in life. A kidney transplant would give me hopes of that and more.
