Can I donate if I live in another state, or do I have to travel to New Mexico?
There is a possibility of me receiving a kidney from a live kidney donor, even if they do not live in New Mexico. My personal caseworker has more information on how that could work and how all the testing and possibly even the surgery can take place in different states.
If I decide to come forward to be a possible donor, will there be any expenses for me?
There are special programs to help with expenses on behalf of the donor. My personal caseworker can provide more information on this matter as well.
If you would even consider the greatest gift of compassion and would consider being tested as a donor please contact Lara Stagg at 505-272-3106 (lastagg@salud.unm.edu) for UNM in Albuquerque, N.M. or Melissa at 505-563-6472 for Presbyterian, or complete the intake found at this link: phs.donorscreen.org
If prompted, please mention Daniel Melendez as recipient.
